What makes a good stock provider?
Simple easy rules
Allows offsite without asking first ((cos really no one wants to wait 4 months to see if they can use their image on what it was intended for anyways))
Allows commercial use even if needing note first, as long as they reply within a decent amount of time. Remember to be patient though, stock providers have a life outside dA too.
What makes a bad stock provider?
Need permission to use image. Cos honestly why would you even do that, resources and stock category is made so people have IMAGES TO USE, quite obviously, if you put your images in that category, people are going to use it.
Taking big chunks of the artist's money for commercial purposes. I understand if you'd want a decent amount, at least half, but remember people do commissions and commercial projects to make money and support themselves, by taking more than half of the money they make, you are slowing them down from paying bills, buying food, caring for family, ect. Be reasonable when you want a share of the money please.
Offering stolen images as stock, it's not your image in the first place, you are violating the law by stealing it.
The big "no fantasy allowed" rule. Normal manips can be fun to pass the time, but giving a big no to fantasy use is like plastering a no fun allowed stamp to your images. Nowadays a lot of images on dA are used for fantasy rpgs, obviously they will need to use stock for their manips. Adding this rule certainly will not give you a good rep, a lot of stock providers that add this rule rarely get their stock used and/or faved, so if your goal is to get your stock used, stop with the no fantasy rule.

How to look for good stock?
Stop with the nitpicking. If you're going to whine and pitch a fit because the horse has a bridle on or a tiny part of the hoof is covered, you're gonna have a tough time getting anywhere bud. It's called photomanipulation for a reason, you need to adapt the image, which means repainting, detailing, and merging. And no whining just because the photo is a bit noisier than you want it to be, not every stock provider is going to spend hundreds of dollars on new cameras and professional image editing programs just to please you. You can add your own quality, it's not going to kill you to detail and edit the stock, that's what photomanipulation is for. They are not a bad stock provider, you're just too lazy to actually try, and you will never improve with that attitude, and if you want to be offended by that, be my guest, I am beyond caring anymore. I am sick of seeing stock providers working their asses off putting up 5 images a day if not 70 images a WEEK just to get bitched and whined at because you're too lazy to do something yourself. They've been kind enough to offer you these images, you could have the decency to try. If you need help or don't know how to do something such as remove tack, repaint hooves, ect, there are plenty of tutorials scattered around this site and plenty of video tutorials on youtube, and I am ALWAYS open for people to note for advice, don't pitch a fit before even trying, especially since these people work hard and take their time from their day to put up images for you to use, learn some goddamn respect.
